Spalted Maple “Apple” Table
Once there was a Maple tree that fell and was allowed to lay on the ground for some time…Eventually it was found and milled into “cookies” but not before it was inhabited by various fungi. Normally this would result in common wood rot, however timed perfectly, with the right conditions, it will lead to the dark coloration you see in betwixt the grain, a rare occurrence we call “spalting”. This table’s spalting is made by Blue Stain Fungi. Crimson epoxy and a reclaimed steel base secure this apple shaped end-grain beauty, with a hand rubbed oil wax finish.
*Wood is a natural resource and not every piece will be identical in appearance or character, variations are to be expected
